About Tunes Music Cafe

Primarily, Tunes Music Cafe is a 'listening room'.  That means emphasis is placed on showing respect to the singer / songwriter who is currently performing by keeping conversation very low or stepping to the rear of the building for conversation or cell calls.  Presently, two 'writer's nights' are planned that will invoke listening room rules. 

Why shhhhhh?  Our goal is to focus on giving aspiring writers and singers a chance to be heard in an environment that will help to nurture their careers.  MS, AL and TN are extremely rich in talent as we know from producing generations of top entertainers.  We believe it's time for fresh talent from across the region and even the country to set their sites on Tupelo as a destination.  By offering a venue and environment for these aspiring artists to perform, we plan to get the ball rolling.  A recording studio is also planned for a nearby location.

And what better location for that venue than in this very building, 202 W. Main Street where Tupelo's own Elvis Presley used to play on 'stage'!  Only it was T-K-E Drug Store back then and the 'stage' was the store's soda fountain counter.  I suppose he was playing the guitar that Miss Gladys purchased for him at Tupelo Hardware only 1 block east.  Anyone with information or knowledge on this subject please pass it along. 

In addition to writer's nights, other acoustic entertainment is planned for two nights weekly.   Open mic is planned for one night with the weekend nights having special guest artists.  Open mic can be performed with backing tracks -some might call it karaoke- acoustic accompaniment or even short comedy skits.  See the performer's guidelines page for information.

By day, Tunes is a cafe offering a menu of pretty darn good baked sandwiches, salads and outstanding coffee drinks.  You can read about our coffees at www.larrysbeans.com.  We're very proud to announce that all coffee served will be Fair Trade coffees.  A selection of domestic and import beers and light wines is available during all legal hours.  From open time until around 7:00 PM you can request and hear the music you love.  If you love classic rock you'll be especially happy with our library.  Oh, did I mention we have over 2 million tunes to choose from at Tunes!

By night, add what is sure to be outstanding entertainment and you may never want to go home!
